Upcoming December School Board Meetings

This message is to let the school families and community know that there will be three upcoming school board meetings in December.

The first meeting will be on Wednesday, December 2nd at 7:15 PM.  This meeting is a Work Session for the board. The main topic will be whether or not to move to Distance Learning after the Christmas and New Year holiday for a period of two weeks.   There will not be any action taken at the December 2nd meeting.  There is a special part set aside in the agenda for public comments.  If you wish to make a comment for or against distance learning please call the school and ask Deb Johnson in the Secondary Office to get you signed up. You can also sign up to make a presentation at the meeting as well, but it needs to be before the meeting starts. The public comment section will be limited to 5 minutes or less per person.

This meeting is similar in nature to when the district held a work session to talk about the three learning models the district needed to develop to start the school year last summer.  Essentially, it is giving the board, administration, the health office, and the public to have a conversation about how we can continue to best meet the needs of the students and employees at the school in a safe and secure manner during the COVID pandemic.

The second meeting will be on Thursday, December 3rd at 7:00 PM.  At this meeting, the school board will make a formal decision regarding moving to Distance Learning or not after the Christmas and New Year’s holiday.   The reason for having two meetings is to allow the board members a chance to review and reflect on what is being shared on Wednesday night before making a formal decision the next night.

The third board meeting in December is the regular monthly board meeting on Tuesday, December 15th.  All three of the meetings are scheduled to take place in the Legacy gym.  Please practice Social Distancing and wearing a mask if you plan to attend any or all these meetings.

A survey link is listed below if you would like to answer a few questions about how the school year has gone so far, as well as a couple of questions in regard to the learning model(s) the school is currently working under.
