Student Vaccination for COVID-19 update
Information below is being shared from the Minnesota Department of Health. This is informational only.
This E-News has a survey link to find out if there is enough interest to have a vaccination opportunity at the school. The survey link is in blue and highlighted in yellow. If you are interested, please complete the survey by Thursday, April 29th, 2021.
The Roll Up Your Sleeves, Teens push comes at a critical time as Minnesota is seeing a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, especially among younger Minnesotans.
Part of the solution to lowering community spread is ensuring that our teens who can get vaccinated DO GET VACCINATED! And those who can’t, GET TESTED!
By getting vaccinated your child(ren) are also doing their part to protect those who are not able to be vaccinated at this time.
Very important: the Pfizer vaccine has ONLY been authorized to vaccinate youth ages 16 and up and will only be administered to those ages 16 and up.
FUN FACT: If someone is fully vaccinated and is exposed, they do not need to quarantine if ALL of the following are true:
- The COVID-19 exposure was at least 14 days after their vaccination series was fully completed.
- They do not currently have any symptoms of COVID-19.
People who have had COVID-19 (with a positive lab-confirmed test) in the past 90 days also do not need to quarantine.
We are asking all parents of students age 16 and over what their interest level would be to receive the Pfizer Vaccine.
PLEASE answer this quick 2 minute survey so we can gather the most appropriate data on this topic.
PLEASE answer either way so that we have a better understanding of the need or want of our school community. Once we have enough data we will relay the information to all of you! If this is something that is of interest for our school we could have vaccine clinic in the next few weeks.

At this time, the COVID-19 vaccine is not mandated by federal or state law, but strongly encouraged by Mayo Clinic, Mower County Public Health and the Minnesota Department of Health. For every person vaccinated, it brings our community closer to the 80% mark that would slow the spread of the disease.
