MN DNR Youth Firearms Safety Certification

Grand Meadow Community Education and the MN DNR will again be hosting a Youth Firearms Safety Class.  Please read and take action if you have a GM student interested in earning their Firearms Safety Certificate via the MN DNR online classroom course followed by an in-person Field Day.  Please also note, if you have a GM student with interest in joining the GMHS Clay Target team in the future, this class is required to join the team.

To participate in this course, the student must be 11 years old or older on July 9, 2022.  The online class costs $25 and is paid by credit card when you start the class.  The student will have about two months to complete the online class that typically takes about 12 hours to complete, and can be done at the students own pace.  After age 11, 12 and 13 students complete the online class, they print a voucher that allows them to attend an in-person Field Day where they'll earn their Firearms Safety Certificate.  That Field Day will be held on Saturday, July 9 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the GM Gun Club, and will cost $7.50.  Students aged 14 and above do not need to attend the in-person Field Day, as they can complete a virtual Field Day as a part of their online course.

If you have a student that's interested in earning a Firearms Safety Certificate, please make sure your 11, 12 or 13 year old can attend the Field Day on July 9 and then send an email to Lead Instructor Greg Lamp at 77greglamp@gmail.com or call him at 507-754-5908 for details on how to get started.

Any questions, please email Greg Lamp at 77greglamp@gmail.com or call 507-754-5908.
