As summer quickly moves by, please be aware of these important 2023-24 dates for athletes:
July 1 – July 7 MSHSL No contact period – During this period no teams will have any type of athletic practices. The weight room can be open during this period of time.
July 25 Free Athletic physicals for girls at Dr. Dillon Denisen’s office from noon – 3 pm.
July 26 Free Athletic physicals for boys at Dr. Dillon Denisen’s office from noon – 3 pm.
Athletic physicals are funded through money raised by the school’s athletic advertising account from scoreboard advertising and athletic program advertising.
All students must have an athletic physical on record in the Activities Director’s office that is less than 3 years old. Typically, if students get an physical when they are in 7th grade and another in 10th grade, they meet this requirement.
August 9 Baseline Concussion Testing will be conducted at 1:00 pm. More information will be coming out as this date gets closer. The percentage of Grand Meadow students that have been completing the baseline testing has dropped dramatically in recent years. It is one of the lowest percentages in the Mayo Clinic area. We are hoping to change that trend this year. Concussion testing is not mandatory but is very highly recommended. Students who might receive a concussion can usually return to play quicker if there is baseline data on file.
August 9 Fall Sports meeting will be held in Legacy Gym at 6 pm. This meeting is for all students in grades 7-12 that will be participating in fall sports. Parents are also strongly encouraged to attend as coaches will be distributing important team information and schedules.
August 14 Cross country, volleyball and football practices begin
